(Imagine this in a "whispery" voice)
If you build it, people will most definitely come! Guess what, they did!!
This year's TechCon was one of the most amazing things I have ever been a part of in my 20 years in education. Our Instructional Technology Team was able to put on, in my opinion, a great professional development for teachers of Des Moines. In just its second year, TechCon showed growth and momentum in attendees and learning. Presentations from Microsoft MIE's covering Office Mix, Sway, Windows 10, Skype in the classroom, and OneNote to name a few, engaged participants and fueled their thinking for what they can accomplish in the upcoming school year with Office365. What else was there to see? Wait, what? Oh yeah, Trailblazers absolutely knocked it out park with their presentations covering what they did in the class room this year. They showed great examples of how to code and use robotics in the elementary setting. Using OneNote effectively in the classroom. Using blending learning model through the use of Edmodo, social media, and Nearpod to name a few.
To stay with my opening theme it brings one question to mind, "Is this ISTE?" The answer is plain and simply, "No, it's TechCon."
